Weekly Raw Milk, Butter, Yogurt and Eggs from benor farm!

What’s a Herdshare?

In 2018, the NC Farm Act was passed allowing North Carolina dairy farmers to distribute raw milk to members of their herdshare. Individuals purchase a "share" of the herd similar to the way one buys into a co-op or CSA. As a shareholder you are legally entitled to obtain and consume raw milk from your cow, while the farmers do all the dirty work - Lucky you!

How does the Herdshare work?

Each new member of the Herdshare is required to sign a contract with the farm and pay an annual, non-refundable buy-in fee of $150. This fee covers the care and boarding of the cow by Benor Farm as well as milking, vet bills and the cost of machinery and glass milk bottles. The initial buy-in enables the purchasing of shares - each share is $32/month.  One share is equal to a weekly 1/2 gallon of fresh raw milk from the herd. Members are welcome to purchase multiple shares as well as add-ons like our farmstead butter and yogurt and fresh eggs from our chickens.
We pamper our cows like star athletes and our time is spent taking care of their pasture, making sure they are happy and healthy, and sometimes we even get them pedicures. They are raised entirely on pasture and graze grass year round (including dry grass/hay in colder months).  We also give them lots of head scratches.

Where do I get my milk?

Members are welcome to pick up their milk at Benor Farm in Cedar Grove, NC. We also have a pickup spot in Chapel Hill where we can schedule a time for a hand-off. Please email us for additional information on pick ups.
